# Mix

> Shape each channel so the loops and scenes feel like a finished performance.

# Mixing Audio

Mixing in Meiji Sampler happens at the channel level.

## What this stage is for

Use the mixer to control:

* level
* stereo placement
* tone
* movement
* spatial depth
* ducking and sync behavior
* vintage emulation of iconic hardware

## Core controls

* `Tab` moves focus to the mixer pane
* `Left`/`Right` (or `h`/`l`) select channels
* `Up`/`Down` (or `k`/`j`) adjust the active parameter
* `Enter` opens deeper channel detail controls

## Core channel parameters

Every channel can include:

* gain
* saturation
* pan
* stereo width
* pitch
* HPF
* LPF
* reverb
* playback offset
* ASR-10 Boost
* SP-1200 filter
* RPM 45 mode
* sync
* ducking settings
* stem choice
* linked pad trigger
* choke group

## Why mix late in the workflow

The fastest way to stay in flow is:

1. browse
2. assign
3. record
4. arrange
5. then shape tone and balance

If you over-mix too early, it slows down idea capture.

## Good first moves

Start with:

* gain balance
* simple pan separation
* subtractive filtering
* light reverb

That gets you most of the way without overcomplicating the session.

## Next step

If you need the mental model for channel mute versus loop or track mute, see [Muting And Soloing](/guides/muting-and-soloing).
